It was sometimes quite a production when the Admiral wanted to ‘be alone.’ Ok, well maybe not completely alone but with just a very private party.
Etheron had been kind enough to supply the place. It was a private enclave located in the Forest north of Retanya. The compound was secure enough to please even her most militant guards. Mack himself had gone down to the planet to make his own inspection.
Now as far as ‘being alone’ was concerned, the complex was a camp akin to the Camp David of Earth’s past. Miles of forest trails, all secure within to boarders of the planetary ruler’s private lands.
The Admiral’s Yacht slid out of Nike’s shuttle bay and headed toward the planet. Lt. Commander Alice Chan expertly inserted them on a least time course toward the surface. Lara didn’t normally watch over her shoulder but the view as they sped over the water toward the burgundy and green forests thatching the shore ahead were breathtaking.
Despite the trappings of her rank, Lara was nervous. This was quite a big step for her. She hadn’t let anyone this close to her in more years than she cared to count. She wasn’t completely sure of herself in this situation and that was a new feeling.
“If you could please take a seat ma’am?” The Commander glanced over her shoulder. “We’ll be arriving shortly.”
“Thank you Alice,” said Lara and returned to her seat next to the handsome silver haired doctor.
She slid her hand under his arm and into his hand, hugging his arm like a teenager. “Almost there,” she breathed.
