"Right then!" Gavum rolled out from under the main fusion reactor and began rubbing his hands with glee. "Let's get this machine humming like a dernus in mating season." Closing a hatch, he whipped out his highspeed hyperspanner and sealed it shut.
Making his way over to the main display, he readied the troops. "On my mark." His team stood poised around the entire reactor room. "Engage." The Tellarite growled with delight. A few seconds later, a deep hum spread in the air - seemingly coming from every direction.
"Power up the laser initiatiors." He watched as several red lights faded into action on various key locations over the entirety of the massive mechanical feat of engineering.
"Introduce the deuterium." A few seconds passed and everything seemed to be working. A billow of smoke jetted out from under the reactor - turning a few heads. "Calm yourselves," the experienced engineering demanded. "Exhaust fumes are to be expected when powering up." He instructed them of something they should have already learned.
"Imbalance in the deuterium flow." Pipped up a voice from the other side of the room.
"Compensate." The chief ordered.
"Attempting... no affect."
"Amateurs..." he muttered. "Out of my way." The crowd parted, allowing the stout man through to the technicians station. Aggresively nudging him aside, he made his own evaluation. Frowning, he increased the flow by 5%. The exhaust appeared once more.
"Carbon chambers destabilizing."
"What?!" he roared across at another technician. "Tricorder." He set a hand to the air, only to have the tool placed in his grasp immediately. Ducking under the handrail, he approached the reactor's side and opened the tricorder. Taking a few scans, he muttered with anger. "Who was responsible for aligning the deuterium injectors?!"
No answer came his way. "Shut it down. SHUT IT DOWN!" They'd have to get it up and running soon. The station couldn't run on micro reactors alone for much longer.
