Herb emerged from the airlock and was immediately met with a crowd of leary-eyed officers running past - heading for wherever the alcohol was kept, no doubt. Shaking his head, a small smirk appeared on his lips. Memories of his youth appeared in his mind as he called back to his partying days at the academy. He was quite the cad back in the day. But he was never the life of the party. No, that was always Kane. He was the singer that wooed their female classmates who fell at his feet. Without him, Herb would never have met Avery. Let alone spur up the confidence to speak with her. It was at a midnight party that they met and hit it off. And if it hadn't been for Kane who had encouraged him to go along - it would never have happened.
Stepping off the platform, he eyed up the bottle of vino in his hand - as if checking he still had it on his person. The idea of turning up at the man's doorstep without anything to drink was unforgivable. He was planning on surprising the fellow. They never got to say goodbye and he merely heard of his transfer through the grapevine. It was a hard thing to accept as the doctor meant more to him than he could muster in speech. But he was proud of him and wanted to praise him on his new rank and position. It wasn't everyday someone got promoted. And for some reason, he had a feeling that his old friend wouldn't be drinking away planetside with the youth of the station.
"Computer, locate Lie.. er, Commander Kane."
"Specify."
Raising his eyebrows, it dawned on the botanist that he was standing on quite a large station. There were likely two of three people of the same name. "Vincent."
"Lieutenant Commander Vincent Kane is in his quarters." The feminine voice replied.
"Location?"
A large red arrow then appeared on a wall panel, followed by another a few metres in the same direction. Handy but not exactly subtle. "Thank you." He smiled and followed the arrows. It took him quite a few minutes and a turbolift trip or two but he finally found what he was looking for. Straightening himself up, he reached forward and hit the chime.
