||Message for Ensigns Zaynah and Smith. Assemble in docking bay immediately and alert command centre of arrival. See attached for brief.||
Zaynah had read over the brief but she still didn't get why she had been called. Perhaps they wanted someone expendable should the vessel blow. Standing there with a PADD in her hand, she looked around, waiting for Smith. I haven't even unpacked! She sighed and rocked back and forth on her heels, arms folded across her chest as she gazed out at the Zaldan vessel from the observation platform. Zaynah didn't want to call the command center just yet, at least not until Smith arrived. Maybe he got his head caught in a too tight tunic or something.
"Waiting for something," one of the docking bay attendants asked her as he pushed a cart loaded with supplies past her.
"My ticket out of here," she said.
Laughing, he nodded. "You and me both."
Once again, Zaynah looked at her chronometer. "Maybe he got lost."
"It's a big station," the attendant added before moving off to complete his duties.
Zaynah tapped a toe in irritation. Why was this Tykat guy ordering science officers around anyway? She held her PADD out in front of her and brought up his information. Oh. Second Officer. She straightened up slightly. The second officer of Starbase Gamma Etimon had ordered her, a mere Ensign, to be somewhere. Either he was bored and just felt like shuffling crew around, or something big was going on. Well, besides a ship carrying something odd. This was, after all, the gamma quadrant. Odd was the new normal. Perhaps this unknown substance was just their cooking oil or something...
