Emmarie tapped a few commands into the console outside Holodeck 2, selecting the program that she wanted. It was a simulation of Rio de la Plata in the 1850s, around the time that the Tango was invented. Despite the fact that the true origins of the dance had in fact been in the brothels of Argentina, Emmarie had spared that detail. Instead, it was an expansive ballroom.
Emmarie entered the simulation, and gave Thom a chance to adjust to the setting. The ballroom was enormous by anyone's standards, likely bigger than several of the Talon's Cargo bays. The floor was a checkered pattern of black and white marble tiles, each one cleaned to a perfect shine. The walls bore a red and gold brocade wall covering, that was broken up every few yards by floor to ceiling windows. And the ceiling was nothing if not impressive.
Emmarie would have been hard pressed to describe the ceiling with simple words, other than to say that it was vaguely reminiscent of a honeycomb. Hexagonal frames, constructed of aged wood tessellated across the entire ceiling, framing small frescos depicting images of Argentina's past. There were pictures of the Andes mountains, of the British Invasions, of the Liberation of Argentina.
It was enough to make any Argentinian proud.
Emmarie wasn't quite an Argentinian, but she definitely approved of the place. She was especially fond of the massive chandelier, which was nearly the size of a runabout, and was constructed of gold and crystal. It contained literally hundreds of candles, each of which needed to be lit every night, and the effect of the candle glow refracting through the myriad crystals was transfixing to the materialistic Orion.
The ballroom wasn't the only thing worth looking at in the room. Emmarie had programmed in an appropriate dress for Tangoing in, and whilst it was nearly ankle length, it was slit up almost to her waist on one side. Where most women would have gone with a red dress, Emmarie, not wishing to resemble a Christmas decoration, had gone with a gold one, that was quite formfitting in all the right places. That, combined with the 4 inch gold heels were certain to ensure that she was quite the vision.
If she was going to do something, she was certainly going to do it right, and right about now, she was certain that Thom didn't have the slightest clue how to handle what she'd thrown at him.
"Nice place, isn't it?"
