When Quin arrived at the Science Lab, he was surprised to find that it was devoid of any other science officers. He peered around quickly, then shrugged. There was a lot going on up at the bridge for the time being, and two Away Teams in progress, so he supposed that the majority of the personnel were otherwise occupied. Looking around, he found the first vacant console that he could, and powered it on. As he expected, there was tons of data streaming in from both of the Away Teams, having been sent down from the bridge.
He poured through it, noticing details on everything from water to mating rituals to energy bursts to... was that details on a small mammal-like creature? He sighed. No one ever considered the poor bastard back at the science lab who would have to straighten out all the data.
"Let's start on the water, shall we?" He murmured, since the water was the most likely think to interest a chemist such as himself. Water from a planet at the technology level of Aesco should be full of all sorts of interesting things. Bacteria, foot processing wastes like grease, tree debris, human waste... all manner of things. Chemically speaking, he expected to see ammonia, nitrates, phosphates... he skimmed the report, looking at the chemical breakdown at the bottom.
Hydrogen. Oxygen.
He frowned. That was it? This was the single most boring report he'd ever read of water from a planetary source. He sighed. "I finally get my dream assignment, and this is what they send me back to look at? The purest water this side of a replicator?"
He knew that the fact that the water was so pure made it anomalous, but those anomalies were left up to the away team on the planet to investigate. Frowning, he paged through the other reports, looking for something else of interest. He shot a longing look towards the replicator, but decided that it was best if he held off on the coffee, at least until he really needed it.
