She stared at herself in the mirror for a good five minutes before she made her mind up.
It wasn't like she considered herself to be indecisive really. In a lot of ways she was very sure of her own mind; she wasn't one of those people who spent an hour deciding what to wear, or what to have for dinner. In all of the small ways, she could very quickly choose one thing or another and just... go with it.
She wasn't sure why it was so different when it came to her romantic life.
A part of her wondered if it had anything to do with her terrible run of boyfriends. She didn't think she'd managed one yet that hadn't cheated on her, left in the middle of the night without saying goodbye or just generally treated her like dirt. She'd found it hard to trust William because of it, she knew, but she'd really forced herself to just stop worrying about it because she cared about him so much.
And look how well that worked out for you this time.
Sighing, she took off her glasses and put them on the sideboard. He'd mentioned trying to come up with some way of her not needing them, but he'd never done it.
What's one more broken promise?
She was sure he'd just forgotten, but that didn't make her feel better. Apparently, she was forgettable in more way than one.
She pulled her hair back into a ponytail; rough, but serviceable. Just enough to keep it out of her eyes, nothing more.
Taking a deep breath, she left her room and headed off down the corridor. It wasn't long before she ended up at her destination; a Jeffries tube access port.
She opened it up and climbed inside. The Ops job list for today seemed particularly long and she hadn't much motivation for any of it.
Might as well start at the top.
It wasn't too far to the first port of call. She pulled off the deck plating, exposing wiring and circuitry behind.
What better place to lose yourself than in sorting out someone else's mess for a change?
