The turbolift ride to the science lab seemed way too short to Emmarie, and left her with little time to ponder over what to say to Hunter. If she had a choice in the matter, she would have waited a day or so, to avoid looking clingy or needy. But she knew that wasn't the case in this instance, and so she trudged up to the Science Lab door.
She paused outside the doorway, taking a deep breath before stepping in.
"Can I help you?" An ensign asked, giving her a look that suggested that she might be lost.
"Uh, yeah, is Lieutenant Hunter avail..." she started to say, then noticed the back of his head, seated at a terminal in the corner. "I think I can handle this myself," she said softly. She wasn't unaware of the looks that the rest of the science officers gave her, nor was she unaware of the whispers. She was hardly stupid, given the state of their attired when they'd returned to the ship, it made sense that absolutely everyone aboard was aware of their return. It wasn't hard to guess what they'd been up to on the planet below.
Steeling her resolve, she walked up to him. "Hey," she said softly. "I'm sorry to bother you at work, but there's something I needed to tell you about the goo pools down on Etimon." That sounded good, it sounded less personal that way. "Uh, any way that we can discuss it in private?" Her hands fidgetted with the medical tricorder that she held in front of her chest, and she chided herself for her uncharacteristic nervousness. This was all new territory for her, and she wasn't entirely certain how best to proceed. Still, she was adaptable. She knew that regardless of what Hunter said, she would be able to handle it. Or at least, she fervently hoped she could.
