Tiria had been nesting. It seemed like weeks now that she'd felt the need to make everything just so. But in reality it was only a few days. She knew she would have no other Andorian's to help her through this.
She was in a unique situation and no one had been where she was right now. There were no ceremonies or rites to cover how she would bring their children into the world but there were records of Shen who had been alone with only a Zhen in the wilds of Andoria and successfully pouched their babies.
She spent hours of her spare time on research of every account she could find which wasn't much to be sure. The Federation had never really been privy to the workings of the Andorian reproductive cycle. So, she had to rely a great deal on memory and her own faith texts.
She was sure of Sig's love and he'd been very understanding of her remaking their quarters for the event. So now she sat on the floor in what a human would call a lotus position.
The room was lit only by filtered light like that that would be seen under the water or inside an ice cave. She hummed a welcoming song for her children. The sounds of bells and whispering voices as would be heard in an Andorian lodge filled the air around her.
Much of the range of what she heard from the music would be lost on Sig and she knew that. She only hoped it wouldn't be ugly or painful for him. It certainly soothed her soul.
Ever since they'd arrived at the planet she'd avoided even looking out the ports. They were closed now so the slowly turning orb was gone from her sight.
"Sig are you ready?"
She'd asked him to wear only the robe of the Chan for this and leave his physician's ways at the door.
"It's almost time."
