The Mehtak commander scowled as he watched the firefight before him. The new shields that they’d been sold by the Ferengi were working out quite well. Their fighters were lasting through a decent number of hits from the Talon. If a torpedo or two struck them just right, they were at least disabled, though, and that wasn’t a very good thing insofar as he was concerned. He scowled. Their weapons were still weak against the Talon’s shields, which was another trifling matter. Their only real strength was numbers, and even that benefit was being diminished by the minute.
“One of the ships on the planet has taken off,” one of the junior Mehtak said, a look of glee on his face. He wasn’t as tactically capable as his superior, and didn’t share the same concerns.
“And the other? The one with the shields?” The commander asked intently.
“They will fall soon!” The junior exclaimed.
“Have the first group of fighters land. The second group will pursue the other ship. We must claim their technology!” The commander demanded. Both the Mae and the Federation possessed weapons far stronger than the Mehtak, with better shields as well. Not to mention devices to instantly travel from one point to another, and to make whatever one desired out of thin air. If only the Ferengi were willing to part with such miracles of technology. But if they could capture this ship... they wouldn’t need the Ferengi.
The commander began to laugh. At first it was a low sound, almost akin to a growl. But as the the Mehtak fighters descended upon the Juliet, it grew in intensity until he was laughing maniacally.
