Lara just wanted a little time alone but that wasn't really possible so she settled for the illusion of time alone. Mack made no secret of his disapproval and yet... she ignored him.
Her stroll down the promenade on DS9 was in civilian clothing. Her uniform had been left behind on Nike and though she didn't attempt to lose her security team she at least demanded they watch from a distance.
The fleet hung around the station and no ship was going to escape them. With the terrorist Colton Hunter now in custody and unlikely to gain his freedom any time soon there wasn't the need for the additional security hovering around her all the time. At least in her opinion.
She stopped by a few of the vendor stalls to look at their wares but the team on the deck above was beginning to annoy her. She shook her head then leaned to her right. "Mack tell them to knock it off. I'm going into Quarks and I don't need a brigade to follow me inside. I'll find a nice corner table and you can watch my back with one other but make it subtle please. I want to pretend to be alone for just an hour, alright?"
"Yes Ma'am" came the reply and she just made a face and walked into Quarks and toward the back to find a table.
Sliding into the booth she put her package on the seat beside her. The waitress came over and she ordered an Antares Sunrise.
When it came she sipped at the fragrant drink and watched the people around her. A young couple nearby were ignoring their own drinks more intent on sucking each other's lips off. The dabo girl was working one of the men at the bar finally getting him to join the game.
She remembered how she used to come here as an Ensign and just watch the ebb and flow. She felt a little silly at the nostalgia of it all but just for a moment she could shed the pressures of her calling and just be.
