He snapped; "Not now, I said," Clyde paused, a little colour drained from his face as he looked down at the Commodore...what in the gamma quadrant had he done to get that response? He shook his head a little, a soft smile as the man spoke. “Its okay,” he glanced over at the food...was this really the time to eat and talk? He was so confused never mind out of his depth here right now! He did as he was told though, went for the most unhealthy and fattiest fastest food on the table and a coffee before he made his way back over and sat down.
There was a weird atmosphere, it was tense and Clyde didn't really know what was going on here... after all how often did you get called to the mess hall during a red alert told to eat and sit with the highest ranking officer on the ship? “So you wanted to discuss something Sir?” He asked tentatively before he thought 'sod it' and stuffed a cheese and onion roll in to his mouth. When it came to food...Clyde could never say no to food. He loved food in all its glorious forms just as much as he loved coffee. There was nothing more satisfying in his life than food...which was really depressing for someone his age. If only his mother would stop talking about him settling down already, it was hard to meet someone in outer space for crying out loud!
He picked up his coffee and felt himself relax a little. His coffee was the love of his life. What cup was this already today? It didn't matter he had a feeling he was going to need all the energy he could muster today, his gut was telling him it was going to be one of those days where everything was going to have a go at him and go wrong.
