“Shower, coffee, movies? Sounds like the perfect morning in.”
"Doesn't sound too terrible." He smiled down at her, agreeing with the sentiment, at least for the most part. He could imagine a few things that might make it a little more perfect. While he didn't think that his advances would drive her away, the fact that she barely had quarters of her own to go back to put her in a vulnerable position. He would feel awfully bad if his own lack of self control drove her out.
“Whats your favourite movie?”
While it wasn't something he'd ever really thought about, his response came surprisingly quickly: "Harvey." Cobus had a top ten movie list that would probably puzzle most people. It definitely was not genre specific, and he often found difficulty understanding exactly why he liked certain things.
Most of his movie education had come from one of his roommates at the academy that fancied himself something of a movie buff. He'd been a bit skeptical of these old Earth movies at first, but he had come to appreciate them. Well some of them (there were some pretty god awful ones out there).
While some didn't think they could be as entertaining as a holodeck program, he felt they both had good claims to entertainment. He liked being able to take on the passive role of the viewer and not have any control over what was happening. In some ways it was a real as taking on a character.
“Well I mean, if you don't think Dr Strangelove is one of the best movies of all time then I'm going to have to ignore you for a whole ten minutes.”
"Yes," he began carefully, his affirmation sounding more like a question; he was uncertain how to best proceed without getting in trouble. His eyes shifted back and forth.
"While I anticipate that that I would like it..I haven't seen it," he confessed, speaking slowly as if he'd carefully chosen each word. His explanation came much faster, almost hurried. "It's not my fault, my roommate, he failed in his education, and Trill? Well people on Trill don't watch old Earth movies, it's shocking, I know. Can the 10 minutes of not speaking just come out of your sonic shower time, because I think I could live with that," he said with an innocent grin.
Clearly he did not expect to be invited into the shower. Or if he was, he didn't expect there to be a lot of talking. Water showers were really better for that sort of thing. Before long they'd made it to his quarters. He opened the door and ushered her inside.
