"At least your no stick in the mud like that Zak guy. I don't think he understands the word fun, if it weren't for his ears I would say he was a Vulcan."
Stick in the mud? That wouldn't be the expression he would have used, but then again he didn't know Zak very well. He'd only seen him around in security and he did always seem rather moody. It wasn't as if Diran could talk though as he hardly considered himself to be the epitome of fun.
"So, a race to the top for honour." That sounded fine, it was a battle of good-natured friendly pride. He wasn't going to break a leg doing it, he hoped. Twiddling his fingers, Robin decided on which rope to use, deciding on the one that had hit him the back, the spot was already starting to sting again.
"Ready?"..."On the count of three... two... one, go!"
"Done", he said with a nod before getting into position. Waiting for the cue, he leapt up onto the rope as soon as the word go was announced. Even with his webbing for extra gripping surface, it was still tiring work attempting to scale the dangling rope. At least being in security he was in in peak physical health but marine mammals such as himself were hardly built for climbing. The rope seemed longer than he remembered it, but then things always do from first glance.
"This.is.harder.than.I.remember..."
As he pulled himself further and further up, he could hear Robin panting out a sentence of some kind. He didn't quite catch it though as it was difficult to hear anything above the pumping of his own heart. He stole a glance downward to notice that he was winning for now. Not that it mattered so much, so he reminded himself as he pulled himself further upward. Losing concentration for a moment, he lost as grip on the rope and fell downward a bit before managing to grab hold again. Grumbling, at the mild friction burns he had endured whilst regaining his grip, he continued upward. He said he could climb, he didn't say he could do it gracefully!
