"Hold tight, we're on our way. Are you hurt?"
Alyssa looked towards her shoulder, and felt a wave of pain run through her side once again. It looked worse than it felt, but it was still painful. She turned her attention back to the situation at hand.
"It's just a small wound," Alyssa replied casually. "It's nothing serious. I counted no more than four. One's a good marksman, so be careful."
Alyssa waited another few moments, and heard more phaser beams finding their targets. She smiled when she counted more then one. Reinforcements had arrived. It was only a matter of waiting.
As her crewmates came closer, Alyssa peaked out once more. The Mehtak that had been pinning her down were either on the ground with a phaser wound, or out of sight. It appeared that she was in the clear. A sound from the other side of the rock formation changed her mind instantly.
Alyssa whirled around, and pointed her phaser towards the source of that noise. He shoulder quickly reminded her that such actions had consequences with a phaser wound. She ignored the pain when she her suspicions were confirmed. She found herself face-to-face with a Mehtak.
For a couple moments they just stared each other down, neither willing to risk a lethal discharge in the chest. Their silence was broken with an incoming comm call from the captain.
"Almost there Lieutenant,"
The Mehtak looked towards her combadge, and back towards her. Alyssa paused briefly before replying. "Captain...I'm in a bit of a situation here. A Mehtak and I are at a stalemate."
"Tell them to stay back or you die," The Mehtak demanded.
"Hell no," Alyssa confidently replied. "You have no advantage over me, so don't you dictate terms." Alyssa looked at his phaser, and then at hers. She couldn't help but fear an inevitable end. This Mehtak was outnumbered. He was going to lose whatever he did. He might fire out of spite, to take her with him. She needed to get that weapon off of him.
"Tell you what, Mehtak." Alyssa started. "You drop your weapon, I drop mine, and we can both walk away from this alive."
"The Mehtak snarled at her. "As your prisoner? I'd rather die." She was afraid he'd say that. She'd probably say something similar in his place. She needed another plan. Inspiration, sadly, was not with her today.
