Georgie sat quietly in the waiting area of the counsellor's office, thumbing through one of the many PADDs that they left around to distract the visitors from whatever it was that had made them visit the counsellor in the first place. Compared to most people who dropped in though, she figured she was surprisingly calm.
Ever since her little episode with Colt, she'd been on a regular appointment schedule with the counsellor's office. Although they'd told her that they were generally very pleased with her mental health, she'd still had to keep her appointments, though they'd reduced the frequency from weekly to monthly a couple of months back. Each appointment was much the same as the last. Similar questions; all trying to get into her head and see if she was still having nightmares. If she was sleeping properly. If she was letting her broken engagement go, or if she was spinning it into some familial scheme of betrayal from the Hunter family.
The usual.
She'd thought a lot about Hunter's parents since William had left her, or she'd left him, or however she wanted to think of it on any given day. She wondered if he'd told them that he'd left her for an Orion he'd gotten pregnant. She wondered if his mother had cried. She wondered if they'd told Lisa.
She wondered why she cared, anyway. None of it changed anything.
The articles about Bajoran hair styles couldn't hold her interest, so she put the PADD back on the table and sighed quietly to herself. She was always early for her appointments. She knew the importance of the counsellor's report in maintaining her active commission, so she never wanted to give them any reason to think she was reluctant about attending her appointments.
The rest of the office was quiet, just a receptionist tapping away at his console in a discreet fashion. She supposed that there were less appointments after a quiet period; making repairs to the ship was less likely to encourage visits to the counsellor than being enslaved by a psychotic race of fish people, for example.
She checked the chronometer again. Still not quite time. Maybe whoever was handling her appointment today would have a clear schedule and see her early so she could get on with her day.
