Dorian watched as the ship slid smoothly out of space dock and slipped into Etimon orbit. The ship had spent a great deal of the last two months making repairs and taking on supplies but now they were heading out on their first mission.
They were off to Deep Space Nine to pick up a heavy gravity generator to deliver to the construction teams at Breas.
He watched the view screen as the purple world slowly turned below them. The news of the death of Ahska’s Aumu had hit him a bit harder than he’d thought at first. He’d sent and received condolences from the representatives of the Planetary government but his personal messages to Ahska had been returned by underlings informing him she was in mourning and could not be disturbed.
Stetson either couldn’t or wouldn’t give him any answers about what was going on down on the surface. His polite enquiries through diplomatic channels had been rebuffed.
He had been offended by the last remarks he’d received from the Vildar’s offices and sent back a sharp retort that one the Aumu recently lost could have been an heir to his house not just to Etimon. But he had had to lay aside his inquiries when he received the orders for this mission. He silently promised Etimon that he would be back and find out exactly what was going on down there.
He stood and stepped down to the next level of the platform.
“Helm, come to heading 207 mark 2. Warp 7 point 5.” He waited for a moment as the course was laid in before giving the command to leave Etimon. “Engage.”
