Sin chuckled over ‘Loverboy’s’ comment. It was true. With the technology they had, you’d think they’d be able to get everyone closer to their final destination. Maybe it was a plan to ensure that staff got some exercise? A little fresh alien air over unusual terrain to get the heart pumping was a good way to keep fit.
The interplay with ‘Happy Days’ and one of the hulking bodyguards caught Sin’s attention. Turning she stopped, taking another bite of her granola bar as she assessed the situation. ‘Loverboy’ leapt to her rescue. Sin couldn’t help but wonder if the rescuing of damsels in distress was one of the angles he liked to work.
When ‘Loverboy’ offered his reasonable explanation and had ‘Happy Days’ lower the object causing alarm, Szonja gave her goon a signal that she was satisfied and the trio continued along the path the Hoffman was leading them on. Sin fell back in line and marched along the winding path through Breas’ countryside.
She paid close attention to the flora and geological landscape as they made their way toward the research camp. There was subtle visible evidence of the prolonged lack of a lunar pull on the planet. She’d want to do some studies on the ground water. The lack of gravitational pull was likely the culprit for the browning seen on some of the plants. Research on germination of new plant life would go toward confirming that theory.
They walked along for a good 10 minutes before the facility came into view. It sat on the side of a large hill. It appeared to be a permanent structure a few stories high. “If this is base camp, then we are better off than I thought we’d be,” she said to no one in particular.
As they got closer, Sin could see that it overlooked a marshy area below. There were globes of light that had been strung across the trees. She was too far away to be certain but assumed that this was a major hatching ground and that the facility was built here in an effort to oversee these grottos.
Sin walked along the deck on the outside of the facility and leaned against the railing to look down and get a better view of the grottos below. With all the lights it made it look beautiful. With the sun setting and the darkness creeping in, the lights seemed to shimmer and dance on the waters below. “How beautiful,” she said as she took it all in.
