Grace wasn't surprised that Luis had been working on a solution of his own. His idea to create a device that would synthesize the effects of Breas' original moon was a good idea. Of course, there were several questions that Grace had about his idea, which she didn't think would be best aired in the presence of Tandar. He had already proven how volatile he could be. And Grace didn't think that questioning either of their ideas in his presence would soothe his sore heart. It was likely why Luis hadn't asked her about her plans, but instead forwarded his idea as well, to show that solutions were constantly being worked upon.
Reaching out, Grace slowly retrieved her PADD from Luis. Her fingers danced across the screen. The universal translator would translate their words, but there was no reason to think that it could decipher written language or that Tandar had ever seen written English. Still, Grace decided to not take any chances. As she spoke, her hands moved across the PADD typing the questions for Luis as she spoke aloud with encouragement and hope.
"So, it seems that we're already considering attacking this dilemma from two fronts," said Grace. "The extract from the T'Kellian lizard would be an attempt to undo any of the damages to the embryo while its still in the egg. And the device would allow the eggs to continue to develop normally." Grace had just finished typing her questions and then handed the PADD to Luis to review. She smiled in Etilen's direction and spared a glance the direction of their Breatach companions before centering her attention on Luis once again.
Her message had been translated to Mandarin, but the PADD's computer could easily translate the text into whatever language Luis desired at his command:
DO YOU KNOW HOW YOU WISH TO PROCEED, DOCTOR? ARE WE GOING TO FOCUS OUR EFFORTS ON THE DEVICE, THE EXTRACT, OR BOTH?
Whatever the path they chose, they would likely have to consult with their science companions soon. Hunter was already familiar with the extract, and could likely be very helpful in synthesizing the compound, as well as determining if its even feasible. And as for the device, well, Grace personally would need to review the data they had on how the phases of the moon specifically affected embryo development. Personally, Grace didn't have much faith in her own engineering skills.
All of this of course was probably known by her fellow officers, but it was difficult to have a conversation with them right now. Especially when any of their words could upset an already agitated and very large Breatach like Tandar.
