They might be in a strange world where nothing seemed to make sense, or where the laws of physics seemed to not apply, but he was with Hudson. That was what mattered, nothing else could make any dent into that fact. She was the one he wanted to grow old and knackety with.
Cliff's smile deepened as she giggled and chuckled at Eddie's vigorous antics with the tutu, nail paint and the tiara. He could never really understand the need to dress up animals but it was amusing since Edie seemed to share that view. He did look ridiculous in it. He sipped his wine and brought it away from his face just in time before the tiara came his direction. It bounded off his chest and landed to one side. He frowned slightly, whoever or whatever was controlling or reacting in this weird place seemed to have a weird sense of humour.
"Oh god, kill me now, this is too funny."
His wine glass left his hand and he felt most peculiar. He could see his hands moving for Hudson's neck and no matter how much he tried to pull them away or moving them of his volition. His heart began to pound as he realised what this force that was controlling him was about to do and his mind was now screaming, trying to get whatever it was that was using him without his will or consent but nothing he did or screamed worked. He could feel it, her neck bone snapping as if it were just a small twig. Her body went limp and slowly, he regained the use of his own arms. It was no longer a curious dreamscape but one horrid nightmare. She disappeared and he was confused.
Cliff looked around, getting to his feet but he was shaking by what he had done, by his own control or not. His hands had done it. He couldn't shake it but she had gone. There was nothing he could see of anyone around except for Eddie.
"Hudson!" His yell for her carried far on the empty landscape and he kept yelling in the slightest hope she'd come back. But there was no answering call. He was the only one here with a dog who he soon realised may not like him any more. His shaking got the better of him and he had to sit back down again, he hugged himself, rocking slightly and he didn't know what to do. There was no Sig here to fix it.
He had killed her. He didn't know why and he didn't know how. Something had taken control of him and killed her. Why? Why did she have to die? Where had she gone, where was she? His mind was going into overdrive and he stared at Eddie. The little Pug was going side to side, sniffing at where his 'mum' had been and was looking back at Cliff with a confused expression. Cliff could see the dog didn't understand it either and he didn't know if he should try and console him or stay away. He didn't know what Eddie now thought of him.
"Oh god... What have I done? What have I done?" it wasn't him but it had been him and the confusion was taking control of his mind. He didn't care the meal went forgotten, that the wine was everywhere and he didn't even register the fact his face was wet by now.
