A spa planet?! Could such a thing even be true? Jo just about bounced on her toes as she waited for the transporter operator to input the coordinates to the central "Enhancement Compound." She hoped it was just the Universal Translator that made it sound so clinical. "C'mon," she said. "Engage!" Or whatever. The transporter Chief raised a slanted eyebrow at the remark, but chose not to reply. Humans and their over-exuberant emotions...
Seconds later, Jo materialized inside the colorful lobby of the Compound and was immediately greeted by a smiling Pelebian who shoved a large card at her. Jo examined it. It appeared to have been hastily written, almost child-like, with many grammar and spelling errors, in Universal Standard. There were no prices but, from what Jo had heard, none of the crew were to be charged for anything while planetside. It was a nice gesture, but she wondered if the merchants were as agreeable as they appeared outwardly.
"Um... what do you recommend," Jo asked.
"This one," the woman said as she pointed at something to the bottom of the list.
Jo tried not to laugh. It read, "Ulti Mate Treatment." Ultimate? It sounded good. "Okay, I'll do that."
"You won't regret it," the woman said. "It is our most popular treatment." She examined Jo a bit closer than Jo would have liked. "You have very nice skin. Better than many from your ship."
"Thanks," Jo replied. "It's my job."
They conversed as Jo was lead to a chamber door. Once it was opened, she could detect many scents, though it was hard to see due to the fact that only candles lit the room. Their illumination reflected off of circular pools of water. "This is beautiful," she said. "Where do I change?"
"Change?"
"Um...where do I remove my clothes and put on a robe...or a suit?"
"No robes. Just you. You can place your clothing there." She pointed at a table where other items of clothing rested.
It was then that Jo realized there were others in the room. "Maybe another time. I forgot, I have-"
"You do not wish our Treatment?" The woman looked like she was taking offense.
Damn. She didn't want to be the cause of some stupid first contact drama. "Oh, I do, but-"
"Then, come. Would you like help undressing?"
Jo grabbed at her own clothing just in case the woman got any ideas. "I can do it myself, thanks."
Turning away, she began to strip, thankful that the light was dim.
"You have good skin all over your body," the voice behind her said.
"Come. I will start your treatment." She lead the way to one of the pools and, as Jo stepped into the water, she realized it was occupied by two men and another woman. "I-" But she shut her mouth.
"Take this."
A natural sponge was put into her hand and she joined the others. "Hi." She jumped as a sponge was placed on her bare back.
"You do Tarly," the woman said, pointing with her sponge to a man with a blue stripe through his very blonde hair.
"What?!"
"We wash each other. There are chemicals in the sponge that make you feel good." Tarly moved closer, looked Jo over, then turned his back to her, waiting.
"Oh lord..." Jo looked at the sponge, took a deep breath, and began rubbing Tarly's back.
