Kelsey wasn't surprised by Bruce's take on precisely what poker should mean. In fact, she'd almost fully expected it, judging by the man's reputation.
"What's monopoly?"
"A game of twentieth century capitalist ideals that is horrendously boring but can be fun provided you are playing with people heartless enough," Kelsey said cheerfully. She'd been coerced into playing it all of one time, back in the Academy; they'd had the good fortune of having a history buff in their class, and he'd insisted. And she'd kind of been into his abs. They'd been very nice abs. Unfortunately, the history buff and his nice abs had failed the year after that, and she hadn't seen him since. Probably a good thing.
Just then, the klaxons sounded, red alert abruptly jarring her from her playful mood. Like the others, she stepped over to a console, searching through the systems that might possibly be affected. Everything looked green, so at least they weren't about to blow up or be sucked into some weird singularity. Hopefully. That would be bad. Still, didn't hurt to stay on their toes.
"Some kind of internal security alert, intruder maybe."
"Can you get any more information? Reckon we need to arm ourselves, just in case someone else is on the loose?"
As the ranking member in engineering, Kelsey managed to find a security update on the console. "Looks like it's localized and contained," she said, following Ziana's glance over to the weapons locker regardless. "I'd say getting the phasers out would be a bit of an overreaction, but stay on your toes anyway." If there was one thing she'd learned from her years in Starfleet, it was that a situation could get ten times more interesting in seconds if it really, really wanted to.
