She wasn't entirely certain why she was there, especially when there were more efficient ways to spend her time. Nevertheless, the urge to actually use part of that time trying to find a gift had overtaken her. She simply wanted to get a decent gift for Dinah and Ra'Tok. After all, it wasn't everyday that you were born into the world. She was sure that Ahska was probably being bombarded with gifts for her newborns, but Henri couldn't help but feel that she needed to contribute as well. Of course, there was a question of what to get? What exactly does one give the future rulers of Etimon anyway?
Her eyes looked at many of the shoppes and venders along her path. She just couldn't decide. There were trinkets that the children wouldn't recognize, toys they wouldn't be able to play with for years. And there were some glorious fabrics from all sorts of alien cultures that had decided to come to Starbase Gamma Etimon. And perhaps all of the options were overwhelming themselves, as Henri couldn't decide one way or another.
Braddock sighed. Perhaps she should just give up this insane crusade of hers and report back to duty. At least up in the Command Centre she'd know what to do. Allocate resources here... approve cargo transports there. Her goals wouldn't be so blind and unstructured up there. And yet, in the pit of her stomach, she couldn't help but wonder how the children were doing now. And why should she? It wasn't as if they were hers? Sure, she'd had a hand in finding them and watching them hatch, but she had no physical connection or actual bond to them. A low sigh passed through Henri's lips. She could only pray to any god that was listening that she wasn't all of a sudden developing a domestic instinct.
