It was incredibly dark and she hurt. She remembered receiving a call from the new, gorgeous couple who had departed from a transport recently. The message had something to do about a question regarding their housing agreement. Elly had arrived at their quarters and was confused initially by their lack of furniture but, if they weren't sure about the terms of the agreement, perhaps they didn't want to move in just yet. It was a valid thought.
They were nice, offered her something to drink from the replicator. The woman seemed to do all the talking while the man moved casually about the apartment, inspecting every nook and cranny, until he had made his way behind Elly.
That was the last thing she remembered.
Now, she struggled in the blackness, hands bound behind her back, feet also tied together. Rolling over onto her stomach, she pressed her chest against the floor. She could feel her combadge, still in its proper place, but was unable to properly trigger the mechanism. "Computer," she called. Silence. No telltale chirp of recognition.
There was a sudden sound and the lights turned on again. "She is awake."
A foot was pressed into her back. "The information was incorrect. This should do it."
"Do not kill her until we are sure."
She felt something plunge into her neck and, once again, she was out.
~~~
Again, the darkness, incredible dizziness and more pain. Her neck was on fire, her head hurt, her hand felt sticky and it felt as if someone had shoved an ice pick through her left eye. "Computer," she tried again weakly.
She was still alive. They still needed her, but for what? "Is there anyone there?" More silence. There was time, but how long? Flipping to her back, she began inching along the floor until she was close to the doorway, then with both feet, she began pounding against it.
