The first indication that something was not right for Ziana was the call to brace for impact.
Up until that point she'd been minding her own business, walking from her quarters to the mess hall to grab a meal. Her shift didn't start for a few hours, and honestly she'd been looking forward to the chance to reply to the latest letter she'd received from her sister, read up on the breaking news from across the Quadrant and generally kick back and relax a little.
So being thrown across a corridor where there really was little to brace oneself against and finding herself slamming into the opposite bulkhead was really not how she'd planned to spend the next few hours.
With the noise of unexpected chaos ringing in her ears, Ziana pulled herself gingerly up from the deck plating and did a mental inventory of her person. Legs, arms, head... She wasn't exactly a doctor - the field medic course really didn't count - but she was pretty sure everything was still where it was supposed to be, even if it did all hurt a hell of a lot more than it had a few moments ago.
Her first priority was to find out what the heck was going on, and so she stumbled down the corridor to the nearest information display. The ship's overview schematic showed a bunch of red lights all over the place, which was not good at all; Ziana suspected Cobus was probably even then drawing up a repair plan.
"Button to Engineering," she said. "I'm on deck six; is there anything up here you want me to fix, or would you rather I head down to engineering?" It certainly looked like there was plenty in the immediate vicinity that needed an engineer's touch. The computer core could be accessed from deck six and that was flashing warnings in all sorts of places - she really hoped no one was in the holodeck right now - or there was damage in the hydroponics bay... sensors usually took a pounding... transporters, if those were imminently necessary... science support...
Plenty to keep her occupied all day, really.
