Robin was moving so fast that he almost ran right into the door of the transporter room before it had a chance to fully open up. A swift turn of his shoulders assured him that he was not going back to sickbay so soon. He skidded to a halt to see the same transporter operator he had seen before when he and Kinin had been transported out of the holodeck.
The operator looked positively shocked to see him again, at least the blood wasn't masking his features this time, speaking of which, why was he still shirtless? Not that she could really complain, it was more a minor pleasant distraction than anything else.
"I need you to scan the station for Lieutenant Kinin Alexander... she's not aboard the Talon." Robin said to her, surprised at the level of calm in his voice despite the torrent of emotions within him. He could still be overreacting. Kinin was safe. Everything would be okay, except... he knew something was wrong.
The operator hesitated but decided to comply with the request and nodded to Robin before letting her fingers get to work. After a few moments, she looked up and pointed, "There's a replicator behind that alcove if you want to uh, cover up."
"Right, thanks." Robin said, eager to be moving, doing something. He went to the replicator and returned wearing a plain dark blue t-shirt. "Anything?" He asked, a hint of impatience in his voice. He almost wanted to walk around the console and do it himself.
"She's not aboard SGE." She said slowly, catching Robin eyes before opening her mouth again. "I will try..." She paused as a readout on her screen started beeping. It was the result of a search for prior transports. She frowned.
"What is it?!" Robin urged and quickly made his way stand beside the woman so he could see for himself.
"She transported down to Etimon... coordinates show the desert, that's strange."
Robin blinked, how was that strange? Sure, the overall situation seemed strange but what was so odd about going to the desert? "What's strange?"
"There was a security incident there this morning, Romulans were holding Starfleet officers hostage, at least from what I remember from the reports."
Robin ignored how she knew about the reports and was again, in that state of frozen beyond belief. Romulans?! Kidnapped officers?! And more importantly... why the hell had Kinin gone down there?!
"Alone?!" He almost shouted.
The woman nodded.
"Why... that doesn't..." Robin shook his head, there was no sense to any of this! Surely such a place would be off limits and if it was then permission was needed... who authorised her to go alone? He swore out loud as he mentally questioned who the hell was running Starfleet. How could they fight the shadows if they were too busy fighting themselves?!
Robin took in a deep breath, "Lock in those coordinates." He said, his eyes locked on the woman's.
"I-"
"Please." Robin said softly.
It was clear that the woman did not want to get involved in this but... she had heard things about this man, despite all those crazy rumours, he was considered to be a good man. She could trust him and this was obviously very important to him.
"Alright," She said softly, hoping she wasn't going to be in trouble for this.
Robin was about to step onto the transporter pad but stopped, what was he doing? Transporting down without any weapons? He turned around. "First, transport me to Kinin's quarters."
"Lieutenant, that is not-"
"And this is allowed?" He said to her, his eyes pleading.
The woman bit her lip and slowly nodded once more. Robin smiled, he was honestly surprised this woman was helping him at all. "Thank you."
After stepping onto the pad, Robin disappeared only to reappear in Kinin's quarters. It as dark, which was to be expected.
"Lights." He ordered and Robin wasted no time in collecting a small arsenal of knives. One for his belt, another for his boot. He stared at the bat'leth hung against the wall and decided against it. It was too bulky and once again... this could all be a very gross overreaction. But what if it wasn't? He wasn't surprised to find several phasers hidden throughout the rooms and deciding to be better safe than sorry, he took two.
There, he was all ready and all he- Robin paused as a glint of gold from within Kinin's bedroom stopped him. He stepped inside and approached the bed to move the pillows and underneath laid a blade and... the gold medallion he and Kinin found.
What was the significance of it? He had wanted to research the strange markings but time had so far evaded him the opportunity. Was it a clue to where Dorian was? Robin brushed his hand against the metal, trailing across the symbols. Taking a deep breath, he placed the pillows back how he found them before tapping his commbadge.
"Now."
