As Captain Raal materialized in the Medical Bay, along with Chief Petty Officer Breyers alongside him, a few of the attending nurses quickly approached to get a full list of the details. However, most of his injuries appeared to be obvious. Everything from the burned flesh that could be seen from the missing portions of his uniform to the bit of shrapnel thoroughly embedded in his lumbar region. Breyers still went on to announce them nonetheless.
"We got substantial blood loss from that bit of shrapnel," she said aloud. "Careful with the removal, the heat from the explosion seems to have caused some of it to melt against the skin. There are also numerous second and third degree burns to the anterior regions of his body and signs of a concussion." One of the nurses began to do what she could to cut away the stray bits of fabric so that his back was completely exposed so that it could be treated. "His blood pressure is dropping. We need to do something to stabilize him before he goes into shock."
It seemed to be quite the symphony happening over Raal, who was currently face down on a biobed as the medical staff did what they could to stabilize the base commander. Various injections of hypospray were pumped into his system while over devices hovered over him. Some trying to determine the extent of his injuries while others attempted to repair some of the damage. All the while there was the constant exchange of chatter reminding one another of the readings of his vitals and asking for various materials critical to his survival.
If he were even awake to hear much of the chatter, Raal doubted that he would have understood very much of it. His body lay there, putty in their hands as they did what they could to prolong the inevitable. Capellans didn't fear death. They recognized that it would come sooner or later for all. The only question that weighed heavily on anyone was when? Naturally, the monitors offered an answer as several alarms went off all at once.
