Having gone with Emmarie to her quarters, Hunter quickly whipped up a meal for the two of them, only to find her sound asleep when he was finished. Leaving her a note on a PADD and the food in the fridge (pushing the fungus experiment to the side that had occurred in their absence), he exited the room. He was full of energy despite the recent events and he felt the need to do something. Knowing Caine needed rest and not a hovering father (father!!) staring at him, Hunter headed to his own quarters where he spent fifteen minutes replicating the necessary equipment and going through the red tape to do what he needed done.
Now, he was on a hoverpad, floating in space next to the Talon, gear strapped to his back. He applied the special adhesive to the hull and paused, waiting for it to become tacky enough. One hand was on the ship and he looked up at the curved surface that rose dramatically upwards. One never really appreciated the enormity of the vessel until one was directly outside of her. His fingers caressed the surface for a moment, taking the unique opportunity of not being surrounded in a pressure suit due to the atmosphere in the enclosed bay. It felt fragile, like an egg, an odd feeling knowing how many lives it protected.
Reaching behind him, he extracted a device and brushed off the contact point along the bottom before pressing it against the adhesive. Holding it in place, he looked around, like a kid putting his hand in a cookie jar, even though Hunter had secured the necessary permissions from Commander Freeman. Silently, he wondered if Monroe would have been so quick to sign off on it.
He continued to press, waiting and counting the moments before he could safely let go.
