This was like coming home. The Talon had been his home away from home and its crew like family for along while now. It was on this starship that he worked and cried and lived. It was good to be home within the protective comfort and familiar surroundings of its walls. He had even missed the sounds the ship made. The chirping of the commbadges, the soothing hum of its engines, the gentle swoosh of the turbolift doors as they opened and closed and the voice of the computer with her firm but monotone speaking. He hadn't realized just how much of an influence the Talon had on his life until it was no longer there.
The medical bay of SGE was excellent and the staff had taken excellent care of him, for that he was grateful. After several counseling sessions and basically doing as the doctor ordered he had healed physically and been cleared for duty. Even the short term memory loss had corrected itself and he remembered everything that had happened, except maybe how he had initially gotten injured. That was one incident that would forever be a mystery to him.
Now, according to his calculations, today was Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), more commonly known as Halloween. He had gotten Adam's invitiation and would be attending th celebration. Everyone was encouraged to dress up in costume and he already knew who he would be going as, his hero, Zorro.
Having already replicated the black cape and matching outfit along with a black fedora hat and mask to cover my eyes and black leather gloves to cover his hands he looked every bit the dashing masked outlaw who defended the people - especially the women - of the land against tyrannical officials and other villains. He even replicated a sword, except it was a toy like sword whose short blade slid into the handle to make it appear he was impaling another.
Oh, how it must have been grand to live at that time during the Spanish rule in California. What fun that would be go back in time and be the cunning and dashing Don Diego de la Vaga aka Zorro. Standing before a full length mirror Luis admired himself donned in his costume. He looked splendid, just like the master of stealth himself.
“¡OLE!” he shouted proudly as he withdrew the 'sword' from its sheath, holding it upward and pointing to the stars. “Perfect,” he announced to his reflection. “We are ready to go.”
Slipping the sword away into its sheath he left his quarters and headed to the holosuite where Adam was hosting his party.
