"A black cat please."
Henri knew that voice... all too well. Her eyes glanced beside her, and she found that her recollections were true. It was Ensign Taylor Warren. Henri continued to look forward, nursing her glass of Ktarian Merlot in her hand. She kept thinking that behind the sunglasses and in her current guise, she could likely avoid the possibility of Taylor recognizing her. It wasn't that she disliked Taylor or her company. She just wished to avoid any sort of comments on her costume or attempts by the ensign to hook her up with someone.
"Henri?" Henri's head lowered a bit as she realized that she had been discovered. The laugh that left the security officer's lips were likely only the prelude to what Henri had been hoping to avoid. "Leather eh? I didn't know you had it in ya."
Henri pulled the sunglasses from her eyes and then looked over at Taylor. "It's Halloween. It's a costume," she insisted. "Don't... read too much into it."
"Who are you dressed as?"
"Nikki Finn," said Henri. "She's... a free spirit. A character from twentieth century cinema. She's probably more popular because of the artist that portrayed her, but...." Henri's voice trailed off at the sound of a very audible meow. Her eyes turned to find the bartender literally bearing a black cat.
"Wait a sec, it's you! That's him, the guy from that restaurant, the bread sticks thing."
It took hardly a second for the man's identity to dawn on Henri. Her mouth widened a bit as she shook her head. What were the odds? Of course, leave it to Taylor to try to calculate them. "Are you two dating?"
"Wha-?!" Henri said. However, before either Henri or the bartender could confess, Taylor seemed to dismiss the notion, waving it off. She then went on to insist that she wanted her drink, and not an actual black cat. Admittedly, she had to wonder why he just happened to have a cat on hand so readily. Henri waited for him to move out of earshot before speaking again. "You know, I think he's actually more your type. I mean, if you think about it... you're the one he flirts with the most." A grin slowly began to spread upon her face. "Maybe he's your big, bad wolf waiting for you to ask what big eyes, ears and... whatever else he has."
There was a slightly wicked grin on Henri's lips before she sipped from her glass. Somehow, the security officer had a way of encouraging Henri to let her guard down. For now at least, she wasn't in a rush to dash back to her quarters. Perhaps she could stay a while longer... if only to see who else would be in attendance.
"So, you went with little red riding hood?" Henri asked glancing at the crimson cloak that Taylor wore. "Any particular reason? Or were you really hoping to lure a big, bad wolf out of hiding?"
