“The time is now 17:47 minutes”.
“What?!” With a loud clash, Tegan rolled off the side off the side of her bed, landing firmly on an unceremoniously placed pile of clothing.
“The time is now—“
“I know!” Tegan yelled at the computer. What the hell happened? She was supposed to be taking a half hour nap, not an hour and half!
With a lack of grace that made her grateful no one was around, Tegan pushed herself up on her feet, and began an expedited process of awakening. Zi’s shift was nearly over, and Tegan had promised to clean up before she did. With both Taylor and Zaynah coming over, they were going to need all the space they could get.
Tegan entered the main living area, and surveyed the damage. “She’s going to kill me…”
And like that, she was off. Much practice of last-minute cleaning had granted Tegan a mastery of the art. She knew the best corners to cut: a pile of clothes in the closet; a box of gadgets stuffed under the bed, a few plates disappearing into the replicator. She’d have the place visibly spotless in no time.
“SCOTTY!” Tegan exclaimed. As she lifted her uniform jacket off the couch, the clearly disturbed tabby looked up at her--his body comfortably snuggled in one of Zi’a favorite blankets.
“Scotty, no!” A loud hiss ensued as she lifted the kitten off and onto the floor. “How did you even
get this?!
"Oh..." Tegan nearly cringed as she lifted the blanket off the couch. The cat hair clinging to nearly ever part of the fabric was bad enough, but the wet spot where Scotty had just been licking racked his mother with guilt.
“She’s going to kill both of us.”
Quickly thinking of a solution, Tegan hid the blanket in her closet with the plan to clean it up and secretly return it to Zi later. Surely, she wouldn't miss it for one night?.
As the clock neared the fateful hour, the last remnants of her disorder were hid away, and Tegan shot her arms in the air with a loud squeal of victory.
“Yes!”
