"Based on the age of the rocks and the dispersal pattern, as well as the energy wave, that field was Trallis only a few months ago. Something happened."
Tahp turned to glare at him. "You think!?" Shaking her head, she turned away again, only to feel Julie's hand on her shoulder. It gave her a small amount of comfort; sometimes all one needed was a warm touch.
"What kind of species were they? Did they have the ability to grow from a single cell in space?"
"No," Tahp replied when he had finished. "They had relations just like us." Her face turned beet red. "Not us...like normal... like..." Her voice faltered and she decided just to shut up before making it even worse. Tek went into a long explanation as to why he thought the planet had been reduced to rubble and she listed intently all while staring at the console.
"[...]it was the planetary inhabitants that fired the weapon that destroyed their planet, and from the power, it looked like their goal was to obliterate everything about the planet."
"That cannot be true," she muttered. "You must be wrong." Please be wrong!
"The thing that did this is on the ship?"
"Okay, so they're trying to activate a weapon that destroyed an entire planet? That isn't very clev-"
Tahp threw herself away from the console as a deep green beam of energy that only she could see shot through it, disabling it and continuing onward through the room. "What was that?" She shouted, her back pressed against the floor. "What was that?!"
"Tahp? Landry? Tekison?"
Eyes scanning the room, her head on a swivel, she crawled over to Julie. "I am here. Are you okay?" Still looking around, as if expecting to see another beam fly through the room, she spotted Nathan, who was bent over the desk. Where was Tek? Julie's wrist was swelling rapidly, but Nathan wasn't moving. Gently, Tahp guided Nathan back onto his chair. "Tek," she called out, trying to see over the desk, but at the same time keeping her eye on where the beam had come from in the first place.
