It wasn't that things went wrong. They just went...differently. There were your plans and then there were the Prophets' plans.
Coardi remembered him from the Eagle's Nest- the glum ensign whose lap she fell into before evacuating the ship looked just as glum on the transport to the planet and her heart nearly melted at the sight. It wasn't right to have anything less than a smile before going to Risa so she listened to the Prophets' whispers and introduced herself more formally than she did the last time without sitting in his lap.
Maybe her negotiating skills as Captain's Yeoman did it, or maybe Tek could hear the Prophets too, but he'd agreed to accompany her on the adventure she'd booked.
But then those plans went wrong too. Not wrong. Differently.
"I'm sorry but we just can't fit another person at the wine tasting table," the Risan said after looking up from the schedule in front of him.
Coardi looked up to Tek with apologetic eyes as though it were somehow her fault. What, then, were they meant to do?
"We did have a last minute cancellation for a three stop self guided tour suitable for a couple," the man offered. This was the pleasure planet, no one should look so sad.
The woman's eyes lit up with gladness as she turned to look at the man behind the desk. "We'll take it!" The Prophets knew exactly what they needed and the excitement that filled her was obvious as she took the new reservation without question or thought.
"Follow me, please."
And just like that their adventure began and like most spontaneous excursions the finish was a mystery.
They were taken to a private room several stories higher than the lobby of the building they'd entered. The view from the balcony overlooked busy street shops and atop a brightly colored, linen covered table was a bottle of champagne on ice with two flutes, and heart shaped confetti glittering in the sunlight.
"Oh how pretty," Coardi gasped as she reached for the bottle and handed it to her new friend Tekison. "Could you please?" He had little choice as she picked up the dainty glassware and waited for him to fill them up.
"And what about a toast? Or a prayer?"
