"I already picked something out for you."
"Yes, but that came with limitations," he groused playfully as she looked up at him.
"What was wrong with it? Cover up too much?"
"Oh," he breathed, lengthening the exclamation. "You were talking about the suit, not yourself." If grins could eat excrement, his was doing a bang up job. Her hand wandered, but only so far as his arm, unfortunately.
"If you really wanna stay here then I surely can find you somethin'. Having four brothers has made me something of an expert on swim trunks, not that they ever wore them because you don't ever know when you're fixing to fall into the creek catching red eared sliders."
"And you were all verklempt because of a crab?" He laughed at the enigma that was Eden Nivans. For a moment, she leaned in and he turned his head so that he could catch the scent of her hair. Sun and surf and a hint of something else. Intoxicating. He quickly moved back to a neutral position as she looked back at him, as if asking him to choose their next path.
Hunter grabbed his white shirt and threw it over his bare shoulder, then gave her a wink. With one quick movement, he swept her up into his arms and carried her out of the dressing room. "I'll take this," he said. Setting her down on the counter, he fished for a data chip and put it next to her bottom. "Send her belongings to the Tolari Tower, room 1201, William Hunter. Behind him, there was a flurry of activity from women noting the details.
"No clothing for you, then," the saleslady pouted.
She had a point. They'd basically wasted a lot of her time. "Hang on," he said. Leaving Eden perched on the counter, he breezed through the store until he found the most awful shirt imaginable. After a quick check of the tag, he draped the shirt over his arm, then found a pair of swim trunks that were more wearable.
"For Sig," he said as he approached the counter, holding up the shirt. "Payback for something," he grinned at the saleslady who was beginning to doubt his taste. "The trunks are for me."
As the woman began ringing up his purchases, Hunter put his white shirt on Eden's lap. "Would that work as a coverup? I have an idea where we can go next, bathing suit required and it's a short walk from here. No critters, this time." He hoped.
Transaction complete, he pocketed the data chip and held out a hand to help Eden down from her perch.
"Come back again," the woman called after them once they were on their way.
