"You say what I like to hear...and I do quite like it...what did you say your names were?"
Eden quickly filled in the blanks, and the Queen remarked about Victor's name all while turning her head in a completely unnatural way all while continuing to walk down a set of stairs without killing herself.
"Your manufacturers are clearly different yet your similarities are strikingly similar. I've never seen anything quite like it."
Victor wanted to say that Eden was a limited edition, but he wasn't sure if it would send up some sort of jealousy reaction in the Queen, so he saved it for later when he was alone with his officer. He was glad Hunter wasn't there. The randy science officer would most likely expose all for her to examine, complete with a demonstration of the functioning of his 'features'. Wiping sweat from his forehead before it could drip into his eyes, Victor watched the operation of the ovens with a wary expression.
"No!!! Lance Corporal, Lance!!"
He didn't fault Eden for her involuntary gasp and he put a hand on her shoulder to steady her as she bumped into him. As the drama played out in front of them, he was beginning to doubt that they'd ever make it out of there alive.
"This is what I've done to a man I loved like a brother. Imagine what I will do to you."
There was little doubt that this creature hadn't the foggiest idea what constituted love. Street names were bantered about, the knowledge tickling Victor's brain. "I know those names," he said quietly, Eden's ear very close to him where he stood. "Monopoly. The computer game. You buy property and-" The sudden blinding light from the newly exposed windows halted him. As the private let out a howl of pain, the Security Chief stepped in front of Eden, moving her voluminous folds of fabric out of harm's way. She looked to him for instruction but as the private's face continued to melt, Victor's face was turning red with anger.
At a sudden run, he hurried to the oven and extracted the hot metal rod and swung it, the curved portion at the end catching the light from the magnifying glass in a brilliant arcing reflection before it pointed at the Queen. "No more killing," Victor shouted, his eyes wild. With a powerful thrust, he pushed the rod at the queen, the white hot metal ends of the c-shaped device driving into the earthen wall of the dungeon, pinning her in place.
