Sickbay was buzzing with activity following the arrival of the crew who had suffered from the transport crash on the planet of toys. Many had been already sent back to duty after the quick repair of superficial wounds, but several still occupied beds in the ward. There was another who was not so lucky. Most of the transport pilot's body was in the morgue, however there were pieces that hadn't been found. The hacked up body was a sight Sig hoped never to see again, and it had been beyond even the powers of the child who now sat in a chair in the CMO's office.
"Cherry Coke, nice and cold," Sig said to the boy.
"I could've done it," Bobby replied.
"You know the rules the Captain set. No powers."
Bobby made a face as he took the drink. "I know...but I'm bored."
"In a few hours the school will open and you can sit in with others your age."
"I didn't have to go to school." He took a long sip of soda and wrinkled his nose at the temperature. When he used to create it, it was perfect.
"If you want to learn, to make change in the universe as you say you do, going to school will get you there."
It made sense, but after having an entire world at his control, it was going to take some getting used to not to be able to do whatever he wanted.
"Watch your video," Sig instructed. "I have to get back to patients."
Back in the ward, Sig hoped that he'd still have an office when he returned. He checked Grace's vitals, then turned to the woman in the bed next to her. Liz's vitals were steadily improving and he began repairing the small ligament tears that had happened as a result of her shoulder dislocation.
