//“Continue working towards a solution. Send your data to the medical laboratory as well as to Lt. Star on the Bridge. We are coordinating with DS10’s medical response team. If you require EVA suits, the station has provided us an extra supply. Be careful, all of you. Jenison out.”//
Sandy sat down at her computer console, looking and analyzing the results accumulating concerning the virus afflicting the Talon's crew; outwardly calm but inwardly feeling sick to her stomach as she mentally chastised herself, "Why do you always freeze up around Starfleet Command Officers? I can see my Daddy in his immaculate Commodore's uniform saying, 'Sandy, why are you such a ditzy blonde? You'll never make it through Starfleet Academy!' Well, I made it through, but who knows how long they'll let me stay!"
Sandy winced as she saw her hunch about a previously discovered virus with similar effects being related to the "Love Bug" was not true, but it did lead her to rename the Talon's virus the more scientific Amoriphage Virus, then had a sudden idea about how to shorten the search for a match, saying, "Computer: Perform a separate search correlating the Amoriphage Virus with viruses on any planets visited by the USS Talon or any visited by any crewman on leave during the preceding two weeks."
It didn't take long for the computer to come up with an 53% match, causing a lopsided grin to appear on Sandy's wholesome face as she exclaimed to her team mates as she stared through her electron microscope, "Hot biscuits with strawberry jam! Y'all, we have a good match! The Amoriphage Virus looks really similar to a fairly common virus from Risa - well, that kind of figures, it being the sex vacation spot. The Amoriphage doesn't look like a natural mutation of an existing virus. The computer is recognizing genes from other viruses other than the parent virus in our virus. I think for sure our virus was engineered by somebody. I wonder if this was a bio-attack on the Talon? Get us all helpless thinking about nothing but sex and..."
Sandy looked wide-eyed around at her team mates, thinking to herself, "Less imagination Sandy, more science," Then commented out loud as she put her words into action, "Lieutenant Vance, I'm sending a report via computer on what we found to Medical, the Bridge, and Commander Jenison. Now that we know the enemy medical can come up with an anti-viral, the sooner, the better! Let's keep looking to see what else we can do to help medical, so that when they come up with the anti-viral serum, we'll have some ideas for cross-species compatibility."
