Seia’s last visit to Peleb had been one of her fondest memories of this quadrant. She hadn’t been ready for another pleasure planet after only just visiting Risa, but she knew the rest of the crew needed it. It was difficult to be a recent addition to the Talon when they were grieving the death of their CMO. It had only been a few days, but she had mostly worked in silence, giving everyone their space. There were friends missing from her life from the war that hurt deeply every day, so she knew what the fresh wounds of loss felt like.
Wandering for about an hour and being decorated by all sorts of paint, the engineer felt rejuvenated and after having entertained some of the Pelebian children with her ability. They had been amazed and had rewarded her left hand and arm with intricate looping designs after she had touched each of their shoulders and felt what they had felt. Their innocent joy and curiosity had lifted her spirits and Vance carried the sensation with her as she discovered the streets, eventually finding herself enter the shopping district. It was mostly stores and their brightly colored merchandise, but the streets were also lined with food vendors and kiosks with assortments of trinkets. Somewhere nearby, there was live music playing, but she couldn’t find the source yet.
Joining the curious eyes of other Pelebians and guests, Seia took her time walking from one vendor to another, smiling when they described their wares and moving on when she found something else that was unfamiliar. She wasn’t much of a shopper, but she could already hear her sister’s narrative of how that hair clip would go perfectly with her uniform- who cares if it was against regulation? Why did they have to dress alike anyway? They weren’t the military. Or were they? Is that why they all had titles? Vance smiled at herself as she imagined the ramblings of her twin about things she knew the answers to but felt the need to turn inside out for no reason.
Noticing a dress shop, Seia made the effort to go in this time. If she wanted to truly torture her sister about going to a second vacation planet (and withholding the story her about being held hostage by a Q), she needed to send her a souvenir. The cost of transport alone would be worth hearing her whine about it.
As expected, the Pelebians were fashion forward and seemed to offer something for everyone in all colors and shapes. Aannndd this is when Seia remembered she hated shopping. No, she could do this. It was for her sister. It was her sisterly duty to make her jealous by sending her generous gifts. Trying not to feel overwhelmed by the immense selection, she decided to touch first. It was her instinct to feel things, so this was her ally. Picking a rack, she starting sorting through dresses, feeling the fabric to see if it would be something her sister would enjoy. Vance tried to predict Selina’s reaction to each one, trying not to think about how she had almost been summoned by the raging Lily. Some of her new crewmates had shared their stories, while she also heard others she was sure had been exaggerated as they were transmitted mouth to mouth. Lily had gone out of her way to torment the crew of the Talon in very specific ways. Seia was fortunate to not have crossed paths with. Aside from not really knowing how she would respond to such a threat, she wasn’t sure how she would have stopped Tahp from using her own abilities. Flipping through the hangers, Seia found her mind wandering back to the last couple of days, trying to make sense of the Talon’s recent encounters and wondering if this was just a taste of things to come.
