After freshening up and changing into her uniform, Ava continued her tour around the ship. It appeared as if everyone was settling into their jobs just fine. She had come upon a rather interesting scene while walking around, an ensign being grilled by a Lieutenant. The boy looked scared out of his wits. She had recognized the Lieutenant. He worked in her department she was sure. His name was William Hunter? Well, something along those lines. She'd be sure to recheck. He had looked quite annoyed. Hopefully when they finally met he wouldn't be as enraged.
Avoiding walking into that particular situation, she retraced her steps. She now neared the botany labs. She couldn't smell the fragrant wild life inside, but she knew as soon as the doors opened she'd be bombarded by the most delightful of scents.
She wasn't let down. The doors swooshed open and she took a deep breath, smiling widely as she entered the large room. Ensigns moved about, though some stopped in their tracks when she entered. She smiled at them. "Go on, get back to work." They did, though a few threw her scared glances every so often. They would soon learn that she wasn't as strict as say, Commander Tavuk. Not even close. She ruled with a somewhat soft fist, though she did ask for respect for respect to be given.
Curiosity pulled her over to the flowers. One rather large pale white and lavender Broadway Lily captured her attention first. She crossed over to it. Pushing her hair back from her face, she leaned forward and smelled it, closing her eyes as scent overwhelmed her. They smelled lovely, though almost all flowers smelled delightful in their own way. She would love to get her hands on a chameleon rose or its counterpart, the chameleon lily. Those were her favorite. They changed color depending on a person's mood. The last time she had held one it had turned a brilliant golden yellow, the stem a periwinkle blue. What color, she wondered, would it turn today?
Her route was rather aimless because she had an ample amount of time on her hands. She continued to browse the different forms of plant life, quite content to smell them all if she had time.
