So far as she could see the object was the size of a torpedo but rather than almost a flat oval in shape it was a cylinder with blunt cut ends. Black it had a sheen that glowed like the finest Tahitian pearls or Vulcan Ebony. The sheen reflected the stars the array and the wormhole so that is almost seemed to become one with them. Incredible and illusive beauty found hovering between the stars.
But however beautiful it might be that didn't reduce the danger in approaching any unknown object too closely. So, until they got some additional feedback from the sensor and analysis of the data they couldn't exactly finalize any reports.
Reviewing the telemetry coming from the bridge, she didn't impede it's progress toward Deep Space 9. The area around her hummed with activity. Crew men and women went about their tasks with quiet efficiency.
Yellow Alert always jangled her nerves keeping her on edge as it was intended to do.
Information continued to flow into and through Peregrin and she was proud of her new ship performing so beautifully in her first encounter. She stroked the console in front of her like her prize mare back home. She knew that Stetson would laugh at her for thinking of this beautiful ship named for a bird of prey like a horse but she coulddn't help herself.
A small smile played across her face as she looked around her and at the engineering crew going about their duties nearby. There were several officers peppered here and there amongst the crew.
She harked back to Lieutenant Buttons "I've served on a total of five ships in my career..." and figured she would try to reach out a little and get to know the woman a bit better. She'd been impressed with her professionalism at first yet something had happend since they'd first met earlier in the day.
"I haven't had a chance to review any of our department files as yet as I've been aboard less than 24 hours" she explained "what did you enjoy about your last ship posting?"
