Robert found Liz's chirpy attitude rather unsettling but didn't let it show as he just stood there. So they were just going to stand in this clearing and fight a bizarre creatures? That sounded simple enough. "If I do... I'm sueing you." He joked dryly. The ex-miner wondered briefly if he would ever get to actually do that, sue someone or something or even be sued. Robert personally preferred the former but was interested in getting involved in such a situation. It would be fun.
After a few moments heard what Liz was hearing and reacting to, the large form skulking around the edge of their little battefield and suddenly, the thing charged with a raised mace ready to smash into Liz whom managed to evade and strike back though with little impact. In that moment Robert had chosen to simply stand back, he didn't seem to look very excited.
Finally when the beast turned on the miner, he finally reacted, a little. Taking a step back Robert rose his knife-like weapon in such a way that he might throw it and his posture didn't change as the thing began stampeding right towards him.
Robert aimed and threw the blade, the short sword flew true though it was the hilt that impacted against the creature's head rather than the blade but Robert almost scoffed and laughed at the sight as the thing continued to rage towards the miner.
Just like Liz's strike, his own only proved to give him a bit of a headache. Taking another step back Robert launched himself forward before the thing had a chance to attack with the mace and gripped one hand on the mace's stem whilst his hand found the thing's armored throat.
Their bodies clashed and Robert grunted when the thing's knee impacted his stomach but that only proved to drive him in his desire, pulling the mace towards him as if trying to take it and keeping the thing's head at bay. After a moment of struggling, Rob released the armored hand and the mace swung backwards from the sudden release, simotenously he released his hand on the opponent's throat, pushing its head back right into the path of the mace.
