Kunama said nothing as he declined the assistance she offered free without payment. She was compassionate as were most of her race, their desire to better themselves and to help others in their plights rather than their own was almost second nature. And yet she knew the valour in not pushing him. If he wanted to do it alone, than that was his decision. It was not her place to pry, or see the windows into his soul but then she never did think she was any good at it. How much of that lay in self doubt and toil, she was uncertain but she felt more at ease on the battlefield than she was in the court of politics and social courtesies.
She let him speak, his manners and tones reminding her strongly of a far younger Voran. She let a smile break across her jaws with fond memory. Life had not been as complicated back then as it was now. Now she had to be careful where she placed her feet or crossed her sword. An ear twitched, she really was going to have to try and earwig the local authority into letting her wear her sword. It was not traditional no matter her respect for the customs of races not of her own.
"I had a goal. To become the Chief Science Officer aboard a starship. Lieutenant Commander, or higher. And I have reached a stage just below that. And I will fight until I reach my goal, no matter the cost."
"Hm," she grunted before she rose with a grace that did not seem possible with one of her general bulkiness. "To have a goal in life is a very good idea indeed and I hope you succeed in that endeavour," she smiled softly, her eyes of black abyss twinkling in the movement of a bowing head before they closed slightly.
She walked a few paces away before she stopped and turned to him once more, "I think you'll do your parents proud, Aaerion. You honour them with a strong heart," Kunama replied, she could see that plain enough. Some in teh same position and circumstances would have sat and wallowed in their woe and self pity. It took courage to keep on fighting, a strength that would always endeavour to surpass everything thrown at it from all directions.
Kunama's gaze fell to the seed trays full of seed and soil, "We have second chances. What we do with them is up to us to decide how strong and flexible we let them grow. To bend as not to break with the winds of the wise ones," she said absently but she was speaking the words her father had told her.
