They eventually came to the end of the long corridor and turned down a smaller before they came to the correct chamber. Without warning, the three officers under his command took out their tricorders. Shrugging slightly, he knelt down and opened up his kit. Three readings were better than one, after all.
"Anyone know how to say 'open' in Zaldan?"
Thoughts of his daughter, Foon, came to mind. She was one of starfleet's brightest in translation. It was a shame she was on Earth, lightyears away. It had been a while since they had spoken. Perhaps he'd have to organise a family gathering today and remember to forget to give his ex-wife her invite.
"Knowing Zaldans, you probably got one try on inputting the right command, conventionally that is."
"Acknowledged." The commander replied through the inbuilt com of the suit. Rising to his feet, he'd produced a descrambler from his kit. "Move aside." Now at the panel, he hooked up the device wirelessly and activated the system. The screen lit up and several alien characters raced past Gavum's eyes. A few moments later, on particular letter fashed up green before the familiar computer voice recited the pronounciation. "Warren." He asked her to ready herself at the door, without saying anything. Reaching out to the tactile panel, Gavum drew the symbol and they were allowed access.
The doors parted and revealed a large chamber adorned with various flashing panels and science terminals. Dead in the centre was the purple hue of a containment field. The nature of the field disallowed the naked eye to see within. At first glance, it appeared that it covered a few metres each way and then up to the ceiling. "Get to work."
