She talked of her family so readily. He quite literally saw a sparkle of excitment and pride flicker behind her beautiful eyes as she spoke of her Mother, Father and finally her Grandmother which he could tell she'd loved dearly. What she described was familiar yet foreign to him. Grimacing as he thought around he began his only mini biography.
"Well, I was born and raised mostly in Birmingham, England. My father was a helmsman and my mother a biology officer so we traveled quite a lot. Those were the most amazing years of my life," he said smiling thinking back to when he was younger. He could see his father's bright smile and feel his mother's comforting warmth as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
"I guess you could say my parents loved each other," he said shrugging and looking at Millie now. "When my father fell ill she devoted her everything to him and when he passed it seemed like she died with him." He looked off to the side, his thoughts with his mother. He needed to contact her, see how she was. But he was afraid of the news he would get. What if she had passed? He wouldn't be able to handle losing her too.
"I haven't been to earth since graduation from the academy," he admitted without fear of what she'd say. It sounded bad. He knew that. It had been almost 4 years since he'd seen his mother and until today he hadn't seen anyone from his past. That was another subject he wished to avoid, but it was becoming easier for him to talk about it. Distance made alot of difference.
Changing the subject he brought the topic back around to Millie. "So, do you sing often?" He asked making a face and pretending Millie's little tune had been horrendous. It had been perfect actually, but what was life without a bit of humor?
