There was a brief moment in time when their connection broke and Hudson protested with a small sound, but then she felt his flesh against her again and she brought her lips forward and-
-kissed his chin.
She blinked and opened her eyes. It was as if Cliff had grown taller, then she remembered she had always had to stretch to kiss him. Had he been stooping before. Confused and disoriented by the change in anatomy and the drugs that poisoned her system, she decided not to fight it and just go with the flow. What did it matter anyway. He was there. He had been kissing her and more, and that was all she wanted.
Wait. No it wasn't.
She pushed back out of his arms, dazed by the flow of thoughts in her brain. Something was shouting at her through the haze. It was a dark place, full of pain.
"What is the meaning of this?!" A man who smelled like fish was screaming several alcoves away and he emerged, a fish clenched in his white-knuckled fist. "I didn't pay for this," he shouted. He hefted the large fish over his head and threw it down the hallway as he stomped in anger toward the group. "You," he shouted as he spotted Hudson. "I don't know how you did that, but it is not what I paid for!"
She simply blinked at him. Why was he yelling at her? Why were there two men who looked like Cliff? Why- but the pain she immediately felt stopped all line of questioning as the back of the man's clenched hand impacted her cheekbone and she dropped to the floor.
A flurry of activity happened all at once. Others who had been in the alcoves looked out, several men who had been in the main area close to the curtains rushed in, and Dahr was not far behind.
Everyone looked like Cliff. Rubbing her cheek, she grabbed the nearest Cliff and used his arm for leverage to stand back up.
"Easy everyone," one of the Cliff's said. "I'm sure this was just a misunderstanding. Come to the bar, I'll buy you all a round of drinks." He looked at the real Cliff. "You should not be here. I'll give you time to say your goodbyes, then I want you out of here." A passel of Cliffs all exited with him and Hudson was left standing on her own, the real Cliff several steps away.
"I don't understand," Hudson said. Adrenaline poured through her system as a result of the pain she had been dealt, and it effectively began to nullify the drugs.
