She felt like her source of oxygen had been taken from her as he pulled away. She couldn't breathe, she was suffocating without him. And yet, even as he pushed her up against the wall and she felt a new thrill run through her, she couldn't do anything but stutter at him.
"B- but-" she managed, and then he was gone, disappeared. Just like that.
She gulped a breath of air, but it wasn't helping. Her head was a mess, tangled up in the confusion of the whirlwind of emotion and need.
After a moment, she wrapped her arms around herself and sank down onto the floor, her back to the wall. She hugged her knees to herself, a tiny ball in the corner of the room.
"I don't understand," she whispered to herself. Why? Why had he... he just... and she...
She shook her head to try and clear it. Even her thoughts were incomplete, fragmented.
Slowly, she brought her fingers to her lips, tracing them lightly. It felt like his warmth still lingered on them, and she could almost taste him there. Her body tingled everywhere he'd touched her, and she felt weak and shaky.
"Get a grip, Georgia Button," she muttered to herself, pulling herself to her feet. She couldn't do this... couldn't let herself go to pieces like this over a man she'd known two days. Who'd told her she was special and beautiful and cooked her breakfast and held her when she slept and-
Pushing the thoughts away, she moved her shaking hands to the console she'd started to work on before. Focus on work, do something productive. Bringing up the errors in a list was therapeutic in a way, and as she went down them she cleared all the ones that were software faults. There was alot wrong with the refrigeration unit, and Georgie wondered exactly when it was that the thing was last fixed.
"Computer, replicate one coolant coil and beam into here, please," she said. The computer beeped in acknowledgement and a moment later the requested part appeared in front of her. She grabbed it and a technical kit from off the wall, and got down onto the floor again, onto her hands and knees. "One day they'll make something that's easy to fix," she muttered, crawling into the space underneath the unit. Her legs out, she flipped onto her back and reached up into the machinery, removing the access panel. "Now don't electrocute yourself..."
