"It's..." Iana glanced around and leaned in slightly. "A euphemism for a female human's..." Her color darkened even further. "...um..." She made a quick gesture to Kylara's pelvic region.
Kylara's gaze followed Iana's gesture. When it became evident what she was talking about, Kylara's head jerked back up to meet Iana's eyes.
"But I didn't know," she added quickly. "The Talon crew ate a dish on their last away mission by that name. When I investigated further, I put into my report that the away team enjoyed a meal of poon but it caused gastric distress in some of the crew. I got an earful about that. They thought I was putting it in as a joke."
"Well, that's hardly fair," said Kylara. "I mean, surely that was put in their mission reports. And besides that, humans are so presumptuous. They expect every other race they meet to become immediately familiar with their language and its innuendos. I mean, universal translators only do so much!" Kylara sighed after her mini-rant. She reached out and placed a supportive hand on top of Iana's. "I still recall a traumatizing event when some adolescent fan asked if he could give me a spoon. I thought it was a strange gift, but... I had no idea he meant something other than an eating utensil." Kylara sighed and shuddered slightly. "I had never hit a kid before that...."
“Sorry, I need to report back.”
The comment had come from Mei who broke her silence as the bartender and Iana quietly discussed the woman's state of mind. Obviously, something important had stirred her from her euphoric-meditative state as she sprang from her seat and took her leave. Kylara sighed, but was thankful that she hadn't gone into Starfleet. Clealry, having such a career prohibited its members from having any sort of personal life. That certainly explained the deficient number of nieces and nephews that she had.
"I don't have anywhere important to go just now," Iana replied. "But I don't have a PADD on me and I'll need to take notes. Let me go borrow one." Kylara watched as Iana stepped away and secured a PADD from a Starfleet officer, before returning with a smile. "Okay...spill it."
"Let's see... where to start. Well, I was born in a lab... but I assure you I'm not a science experiment. I can't however say the same for all of my siblings," she began.
