Few people knew about this about Luis Diego but he loved ballroom dancing. It had been a love of his since his childhood when several of his Aunts took him ballroom dancing as a boy. He loved the music, the movements and the beauty of the dancers as they seemingly flowed across the dance floor. He even had one Aunt that competed professionally for a time.
Now that he had been released from the hospital and had gone through a short period of counseling, he was allowed to move around the SGE and encouraged to participate in things that helped with his memory. His diagnosis? Temporary short term memory loss cause by a severe skull concussion with no brain injury. How he had been injured he couldn't remember, just that he had. Counseling had helped him reform most of his short term memory but there were still places that seemed to be healing. Luckily all other memories, especially his medical knowledge, was still intact.
Physically he was perfectly fine, strong and adept. Emotionally he was normal, although some would have jokingly questioned that diagnosis, and his long term memory was also intact. He was just having trouble remembering some of what had happened during the last mission he had participated in.
Last he remembered Jacoby was the Commander and Monroe was the Captain but had been killed by a group of aliens he could only describe as looking like fluffy, stuffed animals. What they were called he couldn't remember. And then he woke up in the medical area on SGE.
After several tests and a few procedures he was allowed to do things that would help him to reinforce his memories and ballroom dancing was one of his memories that would help his brain to recreate connections and help him with the short term memories.
And so here he was in a holosuite wearing a black tuxedo with tails and dancing with a beautiful redhead adorned in a flowing silk gown the color of shimmering turquoise to a waltz. As he spun with the beauty he felt relaxed, all the tension and concern drained away.
The only thing he was actually waiting for was to hear from Starfleet to be reassigned. Where he would end up he had no idea, but he had already planned on making the best of wherever he ended up. But one thing was certain, he would miss the people he had served with on the Talon and secretly hoped he'd be able to return to serve with them again.
But right now he had a beauty to float across the dance floor with and left the future up to fate.
