Jonathan stood rooted to the spot in complete awe as he stared down the corridor ahead of him after just coming out of the turbolift. Had he somehow stepped into the holodeck because what he saw barely resemebled that of a Starfleet corridor and instead a dark gloomy tunnel with the occasional lights flickering on and off and illuminating just enough to lead you straight down the blood red carpet that had been laid out. However, the carpet was also barely visible due to the thin ghostly fog swirling at ankle level, engulfing and surrounding the props that were littered across the ground including fake pieces of bone, fake webbing and the occasional full body skeleton.
"Wow," He muttered to himself as a chill ran down his spine at the sight. If he didn't already know about it being Halloween and that the main party was taking place in the Banquet Hall, he may have just called a red alert right then and there. He slowly began making his way down the path, pausing ever so often to admire the extra detail that had been supplied through the brush of someone's very talented hands such as how it appeared someone with claws had been scratching the durasteel, the shading of the blood splats and the scorch marks.
Who needs holodecks when you have artists? Jon mused to himself, he was even a little concerned that some people might be too convinced by this and actually freak out, maybe not the Starfleet officers but the civilians and Etimonians perhaps. He would have to find out who had done this work and personally congratulate them on a job well spooked.
Jon continued on his way, the edge of his black leather trenchcoat trailing behind him and by this point if someone had just stepped off the turbolift, they might have not even seen the back of Jon as he approached the end of the corridor. He turned to face the large door to the hall and grinned slightly at the skeleton propped against the wall just beside the door, in his bare boned hand was a bottle of beer. Probably a warning for people not to drink too much, even if it was the 25th century.
After being impressed with just the corridor, he was excited to see what was in store for everyone within the main room though at the moment he was actually early to the party. People in charge of the decoration were probably just finishing their final touches and he was merely just here to say 'All good, let's do it'.
The door whooshed open and Jon let out a laugh as he studied what was in front of him, a wall of webbing. He shook his head as he contemplated another way into the room. He was all for a bit of fun but he really didn't want a load of whatever that was all over his costume. Reaching under the folds of his coat he tapped his commbadge and issued a transport to the centre of the Hall.
"Wait, what's he doing?" Said one of the people that had been setting up both the room and the prank for the Commander that included giving the man a jump with several costumed officers waiting in the wings to pop up.
Jon reappeared in a glimmering of bright blue light and now devoid of their hiding spots as he had appeared behind them, the officers turned with one of the women crossing her arms and approaching the first officer.
"Party pooper," She accused, though it was in good jest there was a hint of disappointment in her voice. For one, who wouldn't want to say to people that you got the Commander caught in your web?
Jon turned on the spot, his coat swiping the air where it indirectly gushed the low level mist of the room to rise up and surround him in an almost supernatural way. And when one of the few pure white lights hit his face, the woman that had approached him jumped back with a squeak of surprise and fear. Jon grinned, emphasising the heavily contorted lines of his brow along with the short sharp fangs protruding from under his top lip.
He looked damn creepy and yet the woman, with a hand over her beating heart, found herself wondering if it was still okay to consider the first officer as handsome. He still had that strong jawline after all...
"That's Commander Party Pooper to you," He said, still displaying a toothy grin.
The woman blushed and nodded before the other officers came over to discuss their various costumes along with another woman admiring the rest of Jon's attire, especially his leather pants (actual costume, just lacking the vampire face)
After the pleasantries were made, Jon strolled around the Hall and noticed the four different bars, all in a different corner, much like when they had their welcome party on SGE before. There was a number of round tables jotted around the area, each housing various displays of halloween themed treats and foods and decorations including pumpkin lanterns, zombie head lanterns and a little bit of spider spring to finish the spooky aesthetic.
The ceiling housed a bunch of lights, turning on and off at different times though there was always one on at each of the tables to allow at least some area of constant pure illumination. Most of the more radical colours that turned off and on were focused on the massive dance floor that was overlooked by a giant hanging skeleton head with lights beaming out of its eye sockets and open mouth. Also amongst the ceiling was the the holographic projection of bats flying around with one occasionally swooping down a certain distance in an attempt to scare someone unawares.
It looked fantastic and he reminded himself to thank everyone that had been involved in decorating the room. Before giving his seal of approval, Jon made his way to the 'head table', surprised to see it there.
"That's for the judges," Said the woman from earlier creeping up behind Jonathan, mentally cursing the man's long coat that covered up his rear.
"For the costume categories, best costume, scariest costume... uh, sexiest costume, all sorts." She said.
"Who are the judges?" He asked as he turned to face the woman again, making sure to smile without showing his teeth.
"You, and I think the others are chosen randomly." She replied.
Jon nodded, a little confused as to why he was chosen and not the rest of the command staff. "You've done a good job," He said to her who beamed brightly in response.
"I guess we're ready to spook." And with that said, the party had begun though it took a little while for the people to start trickling in and before long there was a fair amount of people already walking around, some full of webbing over their costume thanks to the webbing entrance that automatically replenished itself after a certain number of enters and exits.
