The end of Seia’s vacation came too soon, much to Selina’s disappointment. While she would remember her time at Risa with clarity and delight, Seia would only recall the following hours as a violent, bloody blur while she and the rest of the Talon crew scrambled for cover. The attack had happened so fast that there hadn't been a moment to organize, strategize. There was only time to run. Though she tried her best to keep track of which direction the crash site was, there was an intense throbbing coming from her temple that made it difficult to concentrate on anything other than escaping. At some point she touched it and winced, there was blood but it wasn't from her two broken fingers. Her shoulder didn’t feel right either, but she’d have to worry about that later.
At some point, she was running in the general vicinity of a few other officers, though she didn’t use her breath to call out to them. They pushed through a field of tall brush, taller than Seia, and the engineer tried not to think about the aching in her legs as she forced herself to take step after step until she couldn’t hear the sounds of the attack they had left behind. If they were being followed, it wasn’t obvious to her, and the only sounds she heard were everyone’s heavy breathing and their bodies parting the brush. There was a struggle between the tightening of her chest in response to a growing anxiety, and her extensive training that insisted she keep calm.
After a few more minutes Seia saw a clearing, bringing the essence of relief to her heart. The feeling was immediately snuffed when she finally reached the clearing and fell off an edge into some sort of reservoir of… plastic balls? Her weight was supported by a large pond of multicolored balls. The engineer had fallen with so much momentum that only her head stuck out, but she was relieved to find that she wasn’t sinking despite her confusion. Breathing heavily, she attempted to paddle back to the ledge, which was difficult since she couldn’t quite move her shoulder without intense pain and plastic balls just didn’t allow for smooth gliding. Seia struggled to inch forward when a large figure blocked the light. With an oddly sized body and oversized features, Seia’s surprise was evident on her face as it seemed to lean down a little to make sure he heard her.
“Excuse me, b-b-but those are my b-balls,” he said hesitantly, almost surprised at himself for being so assertive. His huge eyes blinked once as they pleaded with Seia, and glanced hopefully at the others. The brunette stared at it for a moment before finding her breath. “Uh… sorry?” She glanced at the others, with whom she hadn’t even traded names yet, checking to make sure she wasn’t imagining this.
